Fairmont Sonoma Hosts Annual Eco-Hike with Local Elementary School

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa’s “Sustainability Team” led 87 fifth grade students from neighboring El Verano Elementary School yesterday Thursday, October 16, 2014, on an eco-hike along Sonoma’s famed Overlook Trail. As part of an ongoing school curriculum, the sponsored outing is designed to help shape the children's values, perspectives and understanding of the local environment.
The resort’s Sustainability Team is composed of volunteers from every hotel department. These colleagues have become environmental ambassadors, helping protect the habitat, resources and culture of the places where our families, friends and guests, work, live and play. The Sonoma team molds the Fairmont programming to reflect the values and needs of the Sonoma Valley.
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Sustainability Team believes that by fostering environmental education in children it will help them develop into adults who understand and care about environmental stewardship and nurture their sense of wonder, imagination and creativity, while helping them to understand the interrelationship of all life.
