Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?

We knew we wanted to hold our wedding in Boston. It's where we both grew up and where our relationship all started. Upon visiting The Fairmont Copley Plaza and seeing the Grand Ballroom, we were speechless. The room has so much character. The high ceilings, the woodwork, the balcony... everything about the space is stunning. We knew that our day would be made so special by the mere setting. We looked at a total of two wedding venues and our search ended once we saw The Fairmont Copley. The hotel canine ambassadors, Catie and Carley, also warmed our hearts!

Where did you have your ceremony?

We had our ceremony in the Grand Ballroom, the same space where our reception was held. The pictures of the ceremony, with uplighting provided by Boston Uplights, are stunning! Several friends who did not attend the wedding, upon seeing pictures of the ceremony, have asked us what church we were married in. The setting is that grand! Our officiant, Mr. John McHugh, was a teacher from Harry's high school, Boston College High School. A string quartet (Anima) added to the classic feel and elegant vibe. Family members shared in the ceremony by completing two readings for us.

Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?

Our flowers were provided by Cedar Groves Garden in Dorchester, MA. We went for a traditional look and included white hydrangea, white roses, baby's breath and dusty miller.

Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?

All of our guests have raved about the food provided by Fairmont Copley. Guests were served a lobster citrus salad to start. Guests had their choice of beef tenderloin or scallops. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! T he only complaints we heard were from those guests whose dates ended up eating both meals (yes, there were multiple guests in this boat).

Our cake was provided by Cakes to Remember and was a vanilla raspberry cake. We had initially thought we wanted a chocolate cake but once we tasted Ellen's vanilla raspberry cake, we were sold! It was delicious. The look of the cake was fairly simple. It was entirely white frosting with festive silver and frosted white beads to add to the New Year's feel and festiveness. Atop the cake were two small ceramic birds. These have been atop wedding cakes in the Maloney family for at least four generations.

What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely ‘yours’?

To make the wedding uniquely ours, we had table numbers that included an image of both Harry and I at the age of the table's number. Guests appreciated seeing these throwback photos - we just sincerely apologize to those folks seated at tables 13 and 14, our awkward years!

Additionally, Harry is a musician, so he was called up to the stage to perform a song or two alongside the band. Chrissy mouthed the words into the microphone. No one wanted or needed to hear that!

Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear. Did you follow the old English saying “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”?

I surprised myself and chose to wear a drop waist ball gown by Kenneth Pool. I had envisioned wearing something much more simple and classic. It was a lot of beading and tulle - nothing I envisioned for myself initially! The dress was from L'Elite Bridal on Newbury St. I saw it on a mannequin, thought it would be fun to try, and then fell in love. I did follow the old English saying - my something old was also my something borrowed - the fur shawl that I wore for pictures was borrowed from a friend and was over 100 years old. The something new was my dress, shoes and earrings. And my something blue was my undergarments.

What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?

The first song that we danced to as newlyweds was Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud." We picked the song because we are both huge Ed Sheeran fans and the song seemed like a natural choice for this occasion.  The lyrics are perfect! My mom's only complaint was when the song mentions, "darling, I will be loving you 'til we're 70," she thought this wasn't long enough to love one another!

Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?

Now that we are married and have had time to reflect on our wedding day, our favorite moment was post-ceremony when we had a few moments to ourselves before we greeted guests or joined our cocktail hour. Tracey made this time in the evening so special for us by providing a private space for us to catch our breaths, take in the moment, and enjoy just being together.
