Congratulations to Leah Owour, Caterer Awards 2016 Nominee

Fairmont The Palm is very proud to announce Leah Owour as one of just six waiters in the region nominated for the Caterer Awards' "Waiter of the Year" accolade.

Leah, the Food & Beverage Supervisor at Mashrabiya Lounge and The Cigar Room at Fairmont The Palm Dubai, started her career with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2011 when she joined Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. Within just one short year, Leah's skillset, personality and work ethic was recognised and she was promptly promoted to Hostess and subsequently won the "Star of the Month" award; Fairmont's very own internal awards to recognise and reward hard working colleagues.

Leah, originally from Kenya, joined Fairmont The Palm in Dubai, one of Fairmont’s flagship hotels, in 2013 where she worked as a Hostess in the hotel’s all day dining restaurant, Flow Kitchen. Again, her dedication and passion was instantly noticeable and was later promoted to Lead Server for The Cigar Room, the home of signature fine malt whiskies and bourbons.

To add to these previous accolades, Leah was awarded “Best Colleague” by the Leading Quality Assurance committee in 2014 and then again in 2015 by Fairmont The Palm.

Outside of offering five star service in the hotel, Leah is currently being featured in a compelling new photojournalism exhibit in Toronto that features Fairmont colleagues from nine hotels around the world. Developed and organised by NAMARA Represents, a creative visual storytelling agency, a week was spent with Leah and a select few other Fairmont The Palm colleagues earlier this year getting a glimpse into the lives and experiences of the colleagues that deliver the brands’ iconic luxury service experience.
