Smoking Bulleit

• • 3L Bulleit Bourbon
  • 750mL simple syrup
  • 1 bottle Angoustura bitters
  • 1 bag apple wood chips

1. Smoking process

   1. Combine Bulleit Bourbon, simple syrup and Angoustura bitters in a metal sauce pan and place to the side
   2. Soak apple wood chips in water
   3. Create a pouch using aluminum foil and place the soaked chips into the pouch
   4. Punch holes into the pouch and place on barbeque
   5. Turn barbeque on to medium heat and close lid
   6. After 30 minutes have passed and the barbeque is filled with smoke, turn off the barbeque to let it cool
   7. Once the barbeque has cooled sufficiently, place the sauce pan with the drink mix into the smokey barbeque and close the lid
   8. Leave for 45-60 minutes while chips macerate

2. Barrel Aging

   1. Once the mix is sufficiently smoked, pour contents of pan into a 5L American Oak Barrel
   2. Leave to rest for 5 to 6 weeks

3. Drink Preparation

   1. After smoking and barrel aging for 5 to 6 weeks, it is finally time to enjoy the fruits of your labour
   2. Pour 2 oz of the mix into a mixing glass
   3. Fill with ice
   4. Stir for 30 seconds to chill the drink
   5. Pour into either a chilled martini glass or over large ice cubes in a old fashioned glass
   6. Garnish with a cherry
   7. Enjoy!
