If you haven’t been lucky enough to meet her yet, Ella is a Golden Retriever/ Lab cross and BC Guide Dog trainee, who found her true calling in hospitality. That’s right; she’s a dog with a job – one of two Canine Ambassadors who keep guests smiling at pet friendly Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
When she isn’t greeting visitors, playful Ella loves to explore her local Vancouver neighborhoods. The next time you’re visiting Vancouver (with or without Fido), be sure to check out Ella’s curated list of Vancouver’s best doggy hangouts.
Kits Dog Beach
Kits Dog Beach/Hadden Park is a favorite among both two- and four-legged locals. The seawall runs along the beach and it is a short stroll to Granville Island. Grab a coffee, take a seat on a log and watch your dog run around with the other tail-wagging locals at this popular spot.
Spanish Banks West Beach
Located just 20 minutes from downtown, Spanish Banks has plenty of space to run free. Here you’ll find complimentary parking, picnic tables and an off-leash dog area. At low tide, the water is one kilometer off shore.
Pacific Spirit Park
Pacific Spirit Park is over 2,100 acres of rainforest – a quiet oasis in the city. There are 78 kilometers of trail to choose from, both on and off-leash.
Charleson Park
Located on False Creek, with beautiful views of downtown Vancouver, this park is a great spot to stop on your walk along the seawall. Just a short stroll from the off-leash dog area is a duck pond and even a small waterfall!
Aquabus
Yes, this is a boat. But the Aquabus is pet friendly and Fido is welcome to cruise with you around False Creek. This smooth ride is one of the most fun and scenic ways to explore many of the city’s neighbourhoods.
