Homecoming

Having left the Montreal/Toronto area 3 years ago to pursue work in Vancouver, my fiance and I were longing for the wooded forests and rolling hills of Eastern Canada. Little did we know that our search for understated luxury would bring us to Le Chateau Montebello, a Fairmont property built in the early 1900s whose very logs had made the same journey we had across the country from British Columbia to stand stately along the shores of the Ottawa River. We were immediately struck by how much this place felt like home...and so much more. The majestic fire place, the abundance of lounging areas and dining rooms and the cocktail hour's piano player, whose music wafted up into the rafters that once had housed historical figures such as Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Margaret Thatcher. It really was a journey back in time for us, punctated by Fairmont hospitality and service. It won't be long until those log beams beckon us back once more.
