The Classic: White Lady
Created at The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, London
In the late 1920s, when The Savoy’s Harry Craddock switched crème de menthe with Cointreau, the White Lady was born and became an instant Savoy classic.
1¼ oz Bombay Sapphire gin
2/3 oz Cointreau
2/3 oz fresh lemon juice
½ an egg white
Dry-shake egg white in a cocktail shaker, then add all other ingredients. Shake hard over ice and fine-strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
The New Guard: Cointreau Teese
Created by Dita Von Teese for Cointreau
Cointreau pays homage to its global ambassador and muse, Dita Von Teese, with the newly created cocktail, the Cointreau Teese. Dita notes that she “wanted the cocktail to be representative of my style.” She selected violet as the top note, while apple, lemon and ginger add a touch of spice.
1½ oz Cointreau
½ oz apple juice
1 oz Monin violet syrup
¾ oz fresh lemon juice
Swirl all ingredients with ice to chill, then pour into a frosted, ginger-rimmed martini glass.
