The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa proudly presented the first installment of a $15,000 grant to the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance last Saturday, November 29, 2014. Funds were made available through a corporate grant program (The Fairmont Community Assistance and Responsibility to the Environment (CAREs)) that focuses on the environmental, social and community well being of the communities where Fairmont does business. Over the next three years, the resort will present $5,000 annually to the deserving local non-profit organization.
Rick Corcoran, General Manager of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn shares, “The hallmark of this partnership invests in the future of our community by fostering enduring relationships between adult mentors and school children in need of academic and social support. Our goal is to provide financial support for infrastructure and volunteer outreach programming as well as scholarship funding. This grant demonstrates our accountability and integrity in the way we conduct business - improving the welfare and vibrancy of our community, while partnering with our local stakeholders in a meaningful and collaborative manner.”
Kathy Witkowicki, Executive Director Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance (and Jackie's mentor)
adds, “The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn is truly a legacy organization and partner for the community. This grant will make a real difference in the lives of numerous Sonoma Valley children. This is what investing in youth is all about. For many years a number of employees of the Inn have served as mentors. This grant further integrates our long-term partnership.”
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn proudly supports Sonoma Valley youth via numerous fund- raising initiatives and sponsorships, including a long and successful partnership with adopted school, El Verano Elementary and their annual Faces of Change Golf Tournament.
