Fairmont Loves Culture

At Fairmont, our love for culture runs deep. Our hotels are well known for being landmarks within communities that in many cases have driven the development of the destinations themselves.

That is why we are so proud to be a national sponsor for Canada’s Culture Days. Over the next couple months, Culture Days is encouraging all Canadians to share their love of culture at http://culturedays.ca/contest/en/add.

One lucky Canadian will win $5,000 for their cultural organization of choice and a 3-night getaway for two to any Fairmont hotel or resort in Canada.

Everything from our architecture and artwork to the historical significance of those who have walked our hotels’ hallowed halls are examples of how Fairmont brings local culture to life regardless of where in the world guests are visiting.
Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver for example, boasts some of the most beautiful art installations on the west coast including the newly unveiled, ‘16’ by Bocce that can be found outside the main entrance. The hotel offers a self-guided tour of the art that adorns the walls and common spaces throughout the hotel.

Quebec City’s Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is itself a piece of art, with stunning and historic architecture that has graced Canadians with its splendor since the late 1800’s. It was designed by American architect Bruce Price as one of the original ‘château’ style hotels built for the Canadian Pacific Railway. The newer parts of the hotel including the central tower, built in 1924, were designed by Canadian architect William Sutherland Maxwell.

To see how a community and an iconic Canadian destination have built around a Fairmont property, take a trip to the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs. This quaint mountain town developed around this historic hotel, the first of the Canadian Pacific hotels in Canada, which was opened in 1888. Its unique blend of opulence and seclusion has been a symbol of Rocky Mountain magnificence for more than a century.

Culture can be experienced through beautifully prepared local food as well as treasures like art and architecture. Fairmont is well versed in highlighting the many wonderful delicacies that Canadian destinations feature on menus across the country. In Manitoba for example, Fairmont Winnipeg partners with Cornell Crème Ice Cream, a company that handcrafts its ice cream using small batch milk from a farm close by. The farm has been in operation for over 50 years and all the cows are grass fed and ethically raised. The hotel has a signature flavor for guests to enjoy: Manitoba Quinoa and wild honey.

These are but a few examples of how Fairmont loves culture and lives it each day within the destinations where we operate.
Celebrate your love of culture with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Sun Life Financial and Culture Days for your chance to win.
